About Biblical Missions
Biblical Missions is a Bible course for LCA juniors and seniors designed to help students understand and live out God’s calling for His people to take the Gospel to others. Grounded in Christ’s Great Commission (Matthew 28:18–20) and the biblical call to be Christ’s ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20), students are examining God’s mission throughout Scripture, studying the lives and ministries of Biblical missionaries from the Old Testament through the New Testament and the ministry of Paul. The class is also exploring what it means to serve Christ faithfully across cultures, while considering practical questions of humility, cultural understanding, and service to others. The students are learning from missionaries currently serving God domestically and aboard. They have also had the opportunity to develop their ability to communicate Scripture and their faith by leading monthly small groups with their fellow LCA students. Through study, preparation, leadership, service, and mission, the course seeks to help students recognize that the call to follow Christ is not simply a call to learn about Him, but a call to go, serve, lead, and make disciples wherever God sends them.
Mission Trip
The course will culminate in an overseas mission trip to Costa Rica, where students will have the opportunity to put Biblical principles into practice by serving alongside missionaries and sharing Christ with others. LCA is partnering with Atlas, a missionary organization in Costa Rica that hosts short-term trips for Christian high schools. This trip will emphasize living for Christ by providing students the opportunity to share how God is at work in their lives. Students will participate in service work and sports ministry while learning about Costa Rican culture and history.
